On 9 April Lista Civica Italiana presented its project for 2025. In fact, this is the first attempt in Italy (and perhaps in the world!) to concretely apply the new paradigm of Politics, precisely the one we have been trying to introduce since 2020. All in accordance with the values you will find in this image

In simple terms:

● those who will be in the institutions will not be able to have power in the network that got them elected and, at the same time, those who will be in the coordination of the network will not be able to run for office in the institutions. A clear separation of roles that does not currently exist in Italy or in the world.

● It will also not be possible to make politics one’s source of income for life.

The lack of these two rules is at the root of the drift of democracy and generates in the citizenry a very dangerous distrust of institutions.

Another feature of the project is that it will give great space to young people and young people as protagonists to be involved: a political project without them is meaningless!

LCI, 13 years after its foundation, believes it has what it takes to create a network of independent civic lists that already exist or are to be formed.

This network will not only have the purpose of carrying out targeted campaigns, but will have to become capable, when the network itself feels ready, of getting the most suitable people from civil society elected to directly bring the demands of citizenship to the places where laws are made for everyone. If there were this capacity, the enormous work done by the civic lists, thanks to the credibility that goes with it, could be translated into people elected to the institutions.

LCI often receives requests from groups of citizens who want to participate in the management of their municipality by creating new civic lists: it will organise free online courses held by experts for them.

LCI will also propose to local associations to change their strategy by participating in the network while maintaining their own objectives, of course.

The reason for this is that if independent civic lists and associations do not coordinate with each other to agree on some shared goals, they do not have sufficient strength to counter those interests that are now stronger than politics. In 2025, to achieve statutory goals, it is no longer enough to collect signatures, hold street demonstrations or get parties to sign commitment documents before elections. We need to broaden our strategies and learn to use the instrument ‘Politics’ directly.

The great difference of the network-party proposed by LCI from the current parties will consist in certain organisational aspects, or rather in the ‘forms’ to use the term suggested by the philosopher Giuseppe Polistena (*) and which we explained at the beginning.

To those who reside in Italy and have come this far, we kindly ask you to help us build the network by pointing out with this form

1) independent civic lists

2) local associations

3) youth associations

Here you will find the recording of the online meeting on 9 April https://youtu.be/mBY3aYKF6-Q (in Italian only)

Those interested in the free courses for aspiring independent civic lists should fill in this form. The course will indicatively cover the following topics: how to take root in the territory, communication, conducting meetings using non-violent methods, electoral campaigning, administrative aspects (structure of the municipal machine, budget, resolutions, etc.), direct democracy tools, solidarity economy, non-violence and, of course, the new paradigm of politics. As soon as we reach a significant number, we will send a notice to decide together on the best date.

*) In the book ‘Politics, this unknown’ Mimesis Edizioni 2022 you can find an interesting exposition of Giuseppe Polistena’s forty-year studies
